DIRECTOR PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

As a passionate and seasoned product leader, you will join the Home Depot leadership team as a Director of Product Management. You will be responsible for delivering business value to drive sales, improve efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction through the production of high‑quality products. Within your designated enterprise product portfolio, you will lead the strategic vision and product roadmap across the customer journey, ensuring all products are aligned to the vision and connected to interdependencies with other products in the journey. You will support business reviews, communicate the product vision, present across all levels of the organization, and attract, motivate, coach, and mentor top product‑management talent.

Key Responsibilities

• 30% Strategy & Planning
  • Partner with functional and technical leaders to identify and plan capabilities necessary to meet short‑ and long‑term business needs.
  • Develops and executes strategic plans in support of key objectives in a timely and fiscally responsible manner.
  • Sets the overall product vision and strategies for the enterprise product by gaining a thorough understanding of customer and associate needs and providing an unparalleled shopping experience.
  • Drives growth for the business by applying domain expertise to provide thought leadership and translate vision into action.
  • Informs and drives strategic alignment between products to provide a seamless user experience across the enterprise.
  • Evaluates research and market analysis, meets with third‑party vendors, and maintains knowledge of industry innovations to inform the product strategy.
• 25% Operations
  • Understands the financial and business impact of proposed product updates, prioritizes updates to support the enterprise roadmap, and allocates product funding across the portfolio accordingly.
  • Drives product development by reviewing performance and directing work efforts of product teams to align with company, stakeholder, and end‑user priorities.
  • Identifies goals, metrics, and appropriate analytics to measure product performance and continually recommends refinements.
  • Resolves issues within or across product teams that may impair delivery of a quality product.
  • Provides guidance on product design while accounting for dependencies and integration with other enterprise products.
  • Drives operational excellence to create internal customer satisfaction and meet product metrics.
  • Understands and articulates the product value creation and business proposition to teams and partners.

  • Establishes and refines a highly effective product‑management discipline for the associated business domain.
  • Supports delivery of product‑management practices by advocating the value of customer‑backed design and prioritizing work based on value.
  • Advocates for the end user and stakeholder by empathizing with user needs and becoming the domain expert.
  • Champions the business domain and product‑management vision and strategy.
  • Creates a healthy team culture of productive associates empowered to make decisions and meet metrics.
  • Drives innovation with the team and empowers them to make decisions.
• 20% People Development
  • Shapes and supports product‑management leaders who strengthen Home Depot’s bench strength and develop advocates for product‑management excellence.
  • Attracts, retains, develops, and motivates product‑management talent.
  • Manages and coordinates strategic direction for the team.
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching to direct reports.
  • Conducts annual and mid‑year reviews.

Direct Manager / Direct Reports

• Reports to Sr. Director, Product Management.
• This role has 2‑4 direct reports and indirectly manages 10‑20 associates.

Travel Requirements

• Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Physical Requirements

• Most of the time is spent sitting; occasional movement or lifting of light items may be required.

Working Conditions

• Located in a comfortable indoor area; any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

• Must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

• Proficient in leading a successful product team within a fast‑paced, multi‑division, national company.
• Proficient in defining, communicating, and driving value propositions, success metrics, and outcomes.
• Deep domain expertise in Merchandising Execution and In‑Store Environment.
• Proficient in shaping, aligning, and guiding the execution of strategic direction for a domain or significant portfolio segment.
• Proficient in utilizing deep market and industry knowledge to achieve strategic objectives.
• Ability to concisely, confidently, and effectively communicate, advocate for, and demonstrate the value of product management.
• Proficient in communicating, building influence, and developing relationships with functional and technical leaders at all levels.
• Proficient in selecting and leading strategic vendor relationships or acting as the primary point of contact for strategic partnerships.
• Proficient in managing and developing direct reports who lead others.

Minimum Education

• Typically requires completion of a bachelor’s degree program or an equivalent degree in a related field.
