Overview
We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to support attorneys primarily in commercial real estate, corporate transactions, estate planning and probate. Secondarily, to support attorneys in commercial litigation and IRS tax controversies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, courts, vendors, and team members via phone, email, and mail.
- Manage daily workflow by reviewing emails, processing incoming mail, scanning and saving documents, organizing electronic and physical files, and ensuring client files remain current.
- Maintain attorney calendars and the firm's master deadline system by calendaring hearings, mediations, depositions, discovery deadlines, court dates, meetings, and reminders. Prepare and distribute daily deadline updates to the legal team.
- Prepare IRS forms and correspondence related to debt reduction matters.
- Draft correspondence, pleadings, notices, discovery requests and responses, and electronically file documents in state, federal, probate, appellate, and bankruptcy courts. Monitor court filings, update case files, and prepare claims of lien.
- Assist with commercial real estate transactions by reviewing contracts, coordinating due diligence, preparing closing documents, scheduling critical deadlines, recording documents, and completing post-closing tasks.
- Prepare corporate filings, entity formations, EIN applications, annual registrations, certificates of good standing, and related corporate documents.
- Update and finalize estate planning documents, research property ownership, and prepare and record deeds and other real estate documents.
- Provide general administrative support, including answering phones, opening new client matters, preparing engagement letters, processing filing receipts, coordinating conference calls, and assisting with other legal and office operations as needed.
Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience in litigation, probate, commercial real estate, corporate law, or estate planning.
- Strong organizational, drafting, and communication skills.
- Experience with court e-filing systems and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
