BIM Engineer (Johns Creek)
TRCTalent is seeking a full time BIM Engineer for a leading data center group based in midtown Atlanta. This is a full time opportunity and is onsite.
The BIM Engineer is a technical contributor responsible for the development, management, and maintenance of Building Information Models (BIM) in support of space planning, design, construction, and facility operations for our client. This role focuses on Revit-based model authoring, spatial accuracy, and compliance with the firm's Standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Reporting to the Senior BIM Manager, the BIM Engineer works closely with internal BIM space planning teams, consultants, and contractors to support space planning management, model quality control, and data consistency across architectural, structural, and MEP systems. The role emphasizes hands-on modeling, spatial validation, and technical problem-solving, rather than team leadership or enterprise-level strategy.
The BIM Engineer assists with space planning reviews, layout validation, and clash-aware spatial analysis, and contributes to the effective use of BIM platforms such as Autodesk Revit, Revizto, and Autodesk Construction Cloud. This position supports project teams by ensuring models accurately represent design intent, space allocation, and operational requirements.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within project teams while continuing to build BIM and space planning expertise.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and maintain BIM models for projects using Autodesk Revit, with a focus on space planning accuracy, layout validation, and model compliance.
· Support space planning management activities, including spatial layout reviews, equipment clearances, pathway validation, and conflict identification across architectural, structural, and MEP systems.
· Perform BIM quality assurance activities, including space validation checks, data accuracy reviews, and standards compliance verification.
· Support engineering, construction, and facilities teams by providing reliable spatial and layout data throughout design and construction phases.
· Maintain BIM content, families, templates, and shared parameters aligned with the company's space planning and modeling standards.
· Support the use of Revizto and Autodesk Construction Cloud for space-related issue tracking, layout feedback, and model review workflows.
· Interpret construction documents and engineering drawings to accurately reflect space requirements, equipment footprints, and operational clearances within BIM models.
· Document space planning workflows, modeling standards, and lessons learned to support consistency and repeatability.
· Coordinate model updates with project stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate space planning revisions.
· Provide technical support related to Revit-based space planning, layout management, and model navigation.
Continuous Improvement
· Participate in the evaluation and testing of BIM tools, plugins, and workflows that support space planning and layout efficiency.
· Identify opportunities to improve space utilization modeling, layout accuracy, and data consistency.
· Apply feedback from space planning reviews and project teams to refine modeling practices.
· Stay current with BIM and space planning best practices relevant to data centers and mission-critical facilities.
· Support Senior BIM Manager and BIM leadership initiatives as a technical contributor.
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following disciplines: Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Building Sciences / Building Technology, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, Facilities Engineering or Facilities Management (with strong BIM exposure)
· 5–10 years of experience supporting BIM delivery with a focus on space planning, layout management, or facility modeling.
· Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, with working knowledge of Navisworks, Revizto, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
· Experience supporting space planning workflows, layout validation, and multidisciplinary model environments.
· Basic to intermediate understanding of MEP systems, building infrastructure, and how they impact space allocation.
· Ability to follow BIM and space planning standards, naming conventions, and documentation requirements.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple modeling and space planning tasks concurrently.
· Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers, designers, and facilities stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to executive audiences.
· Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience collaborating across all organizational levels and geographies.
· Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with a track record of delivering results in dynamic, multi-priority environments.
· Meticulous attention to process scope, tone, documentation quality, and alignment with FacOps and BIM strategic goals, deadlines, and priorities.
· Demonstrated ability to perform timely follow-up, escalate issues appropriately, and drive resolution of complex challenges.
· Proven capability to work independently and as a senior contributor within high-performing team
