CVICU RN Job Details

• Location: Austin, TX 78704 (Texas nursing jobs)
• Facility: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Assignment Type: Travel RN contract
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: December 15, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1680–$1730

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU, ICU, or critical care nursing experience
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, rhythm interpretation, and hemodynamic assessment
• Skilled with titratable drips, advanced cardiac life support, and hemodynamics
• Experience with ventilators, BiPAP, tracheostomies, and Airvo respiratory support
• Direct experience caring for post open heart surgery patients
• Familiarity with ECMO, Impella, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and CRRT/SLED
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, and positive attitude in a fast-paced healthcare environment

CVICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients in an 8-bed CVICU
• Monitor, interpret, and document cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic data
• Operate and manage advanced life support equipment: ECMO, Impella, balloon pumps, CRRT/SLED
• Administer and titrate critical care medications and intravenous drips
• Assist with post-operative care for open heart surgery patients
• Support procedures including central line and chest tube insertions, bronchoscopies, tracheostomies, and intubations
• Accurately document all care and interventions in Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes
