As a member of the Martin's Family, a Line Control Supervisor oversees and coordinates activities of workers engaged in packaging bread and roll products for shipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Starts and adjusts packaging machinery; requests necessary repairs from the maintenance department.
• Verifies correct date and pricing on product.
• Inspects products during packaging process and coordinates further action for substandard product with production supervisor.
• Observes packaging operations and inspects baskets and packages to verify conformance to specifications.
• Designates breaks in packaging and make-up departments.
• Confers with coworkers to coordinate activities of individual departments.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Performs activities of workers supervised.
• Performs first level employee counseling.
• Requisitions containers and other supplies for delivery to work stations.
• Maintains time and production records.
• Monitors production order to ascertain type and quantity of product and other packaging requirements.
• Supports management decision with production schedules.
• Maintains cleanliness of packaging department.
• Adheres to and enforces safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.

Reports safety, food safety, and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Directly supervises production employees in accordance with policies and applicable laws.
• Plans, assigns, and directs work of packaging employee.
• Trains as applicable and assesses training results and performance of employees.
• Addresses employee complaints and resolves problems.
• Coaches/Counsels/Administers discipline as necessary.
• Assists in the hiring process of packaging level employees as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED;
• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or
• Three to five years related experience and/or training; or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to successfully pass Food Safety HACCP training and competency test.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bakery/manufacturing experience preferred.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for long periods of time. Employees uses hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and smell. Employee is required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch and/or crawl. Employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
