Geotechnical Laboratory Technical Director
Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a Geotechnical Laboratory Technical Director in Tucker, GA
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
This is a full-time, exempt position with profit-sharing and full benefits
This position focuses exclusively on laboratory-based geotechnical and soil-cement testing—no field work or travel required.
Job duties will include:
Oversee all laboratory operations, including personnel management, scheduling, equipment maintenance, and calibration
Supervise geotechnical and construction materials testing, including Proctor, Atterberg Limits, grain size analysis, unconfined compression, CU/UU triaxial, Direct Shear, permeability, consolidation, and CBR
Ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, USACE, GDOT, and internal QMS procedures
Maintain lab accreditation and participate in proficiency testing programs
Train and evaluate laboratory staff, and develop lab safety protocols
Prepare and review detailed lab test reports and serve as primary technical contact for clients
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience in geotechnical/materials testing laboratories, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred; Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related STEM field acceptable
P.E. preferred; P.G. license acceptable based on experience
Strong knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, USACE, and GDOT standards
Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
