About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN experience License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred; National certification in Medical-Surgical nursing or nephrology nursing preferred Must-Have: Strong clinical assessment and Med-Surg nursing skills for a Level 1 Trauma hospital Trach care and chest tube management PIV starts, insulin drips, heparin drips Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation Discharge planning and patient education, particularly on renal and fluid management Description: Seeking an RN for the MedSurg/Tele specialty. This facility has a total of 637 licensed beds and is designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center. The unit consists of 23 beds with a census of 10-23 patients. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Typical patient diagnoses include hip, knee, and shoulder replacement surgeries, bariatric surgeries, and spinal surgeries. Patients may present with acute or chronic diseases, post-operative conditions, and co-morbidities such as diabetes and hypertension. Staffing ratios are designed to support high-quality patient care, with RN to patient ratios of 1:4-6. Support staff includes CNAs who assist with vital signs, glucose checks, bathing, feeding, ambulating patients, and more. The nursing team is complemented by resource nurses, hospitalists, intensivists, and around-the-clock telemetry monitoring. The technology used includes an electronic medical record system and various patient care equipment. Floating may be required to adult medical-surgical and telemetry units within the facility. Schedule includes a weekend rotation and holiday expectations. Teamwork and collaboration are essential for success in this fast-paced unit.
