Electro‑Mechanical Controls Technician (Industrial)
Electro‑Mechanical Controls Technician (Industrial)
Your mission
When production depends on reliable automation, you’re the one who keeps it moving. Picture a line trip at peak demand: you review the HMI, dive into ladder logic, scope the control circuit, and stabilize a variable-speed drive to bring the system back up. You then integrate a new control panel with pneumatics and mechanical assemblies, verify real-world performance, and document as-built changes in CAD. You close the loop by proposing a small redesign to simplify future maintenance—and fabricate a needed bracket on the lathe, finishing the job with a quick weld.
Outcomes you’ll own
- Rapidly identify faults using industrial electronics and mechanical principles to restore equipment
- Diagnose PLC, control circuit, and VFD issues; implement durable fixes
- Construct, test, and install control panels from electrical schematics
- Install conductors and devices to company specifications and local code requirements
- Assemble automation systems per engineering direction, technical manuals, and component knowledge
- Recommend circuitry/installation improvements that reduce maintenance effort
- Verify performance of new installs under actual operating conditions
- Capture as-built updates in electrical schematics using CAD tools
- Link electrical controls with pneumatic and mechanical systems
- Fabricate parts using bench lathes, drills, and other machine tools
- Support additional responsibilities as assigned by management
- Execute preventive maintenance: inspect drives, motors, belts; check fluids; replace filters; complete checklists
- Resolve mechanical problems using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs
- Plan and blueprint repair work leveraging diagrams, drawings, maintenance manuals, and schematics
- Cut or join metal using torches or welding equipment
- Set up and operate machine tools to repair/fabricate parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools
