Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the firm's accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
- Manage the firm's billing process, including invoicing clients, recording payments, and reconciling accounts receivable.
- Coordinate with partners and attorneys to ensure accurate and timely recording of billable hours and expenses.
- Monitor cash flow, prepare cash forecasts, and manage banking relationships.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with the preparation of tax returns and filings.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations, and make recommendations for process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling and analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
