Lead Mechanical Assembler

Are you a master of mechanical builds with a knack for leading teams? We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Assembler who can bridge the gap between complex engineering prints and high-quality finished products. This is a "player-coach" role where your technical expertise in metal fabrication and TIG welding will drive our production floor to success. As the Lead, you will coordinate daily assembly activities, ensuring safety and efficiency across the floor. You’ll be the go-to expert for troubleshooting technical issues, training new hires, and maintaining the highest quality standards.

salary: $66,560 - $76,960 per year

Responsibilities

Coordinates daily operations and provides hands-on support to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety. This role guides the assembly team, monitors workflow, and serves as the primary liaison between production, engineering, and quality departments.

  • Technical Expertise: Advanced mechanical assembly, sub-assembly, and functional testing.

  • Blueprint Literacy: Expert ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and build instructions.

  • Leadership: Experience in task delegation, team mentorship, and workflow optimization.

  • Quality Control: Proficiency in inspecting for compliance, verifying torque specs, and conducting root-cause analysis.

  • Precision Tooling: Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.

  • Lean Manufacturing: Skilled in 5S, torque verification, waste reduction, and process standardization.

Key Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training is preferred.

  • Experience: 3–5 years of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and collaborate with engineering on solutions.

  • Communication: strong interpersonal skills for training staff and reporting to management.

  • Documentation: Diligent in maintaining inspection sheets, production records, and travelers.

  • Physical/Safety: Commitment to enforcing safety procedures and maintaining a clean work environment.
