Job Summary
This position performs complex accounting duties in support of a foundation accounting and grants funds received from various Federal, State and other sponsoring agencies.
Responsibilities
1 - Manage, control, and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts for all foundation and grant accounts. Prepare invoices for foundation and grant accounts on an ongoing basis. Monitor sponsored project receivables to ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner. 2 - Record Foundation accounting transactions in Foundation and College accounting systems. 3 - Monitors all restricted fund transactions to ensure they are in accordance with the award terms and conditions, donor intent, uniform guidance, and institutional policy. Transactions include purchase requisitions, invoice payments, purchasing card purchases, travel expenses, payroll distributions, and transfers. 4 - Serve as staff liaison to the Foundation Budget and Finance Committee and collaborate closely with the Office of Advancement on Foundation business; coordinate the development of the annual foundation budget; prepare and present quarterly budget and investment reports and rebalance investment accounts. 5 - Monitor Foundation expenditures through collaboration with Vice President for Advancement, Comptroller, and Director of Financial Aid. 6 - Prepare required reporting for grant programs 7 - Assists the Comptroller and Director of Accounting with Annual Financial Statement preparation, audit preparation and audit review for the College and Foundation. 8 - Performs related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements- Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field
- Must successfully pass a credit check.
- More than five years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience- Experience with PeopleSoft Financial Systems software.
- Experience with Quickbooks
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of University System of Georgia policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of fund accounting principles.
- Knowledge of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines and rules.
- Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
- Skill in decision making and problem solving.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
