Shipping and Receiving
SUMMARY
Swanton Welding is currently accepting internal applications for a Shipping & Receiving Clerk at our South Location in Griffin, GA .
This position is responsible for the full operation of the shipping and receiving department within a metal fabrication environment, ensuring accurate documentation, handling, and movement of materials and finished products ranging from small fabricated parts to large steel assemblies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain full responsibility for all inbound and outbound shipments, including verification, documentation, and organization.
- Prepare and process bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping paperwork .
- Inspect incoming materials for accuracy and condition; report discrepancies promptly.
- Package, wrap, and secure fabricated products of varying sizes for shipment per company and customer specifications.
- Build custom shipping crates, skids, or containers for large or irregularly shaped metal fabrications.
- Schedule and coordinate freight pickups and deliveries ; communicate with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment safely.
- Support inventory control activities and perform cycle counts as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following company safety and PPE standards
- KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) .
- Ability to interpret work orders and shipping instructions .
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Forklift experience required; certification preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude for crate and packaging fabrication.
- Prior experience in shipping and receiving within a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred.
