Position: Precision Machining and Manufacturing Laboratory Assistant
Location: Walton Campus
Department: Division of Business, Industry, and Technology
Reports to: Program Chair for Precision Machining and Manufacturing and Divisional Academic Dean
Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. No State of Georgia benefits.

Responsibilities:
- Assists faculty members with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, adherence to safety procedures, tracking attendance and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction.
- Assists faculty with the supervision and mentoring of students during scheduled lab sessions or tutoring sessions, as needed.
- Assists faculty with maintaining a clean and safe lab environment.
- Performs routine maintenance on equipment, as instructed.
- Assists with inventory maintenance and requisition of supplies.
- Obtains materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials.
- Completes ALL required employee trainings.
- Meets with students, staff members, supervisors, as needed.
- Assists with special projects or initiatives, as needed.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned by program chair.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Satisfactory completion of the following courses with a course completion grade of B or higher: Introduction of Machine Tool Technology, Blueprint Reading, and Machine Tool Math.
- One (1) year of related work experience in a Precision Machining and Manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of Diploma in Precision Machining and Manufacturing Technology, Machine Tool, or a related field from an accredited college or technical institution.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) and G and M code programming.
- Mastercam experience including programming and developing toolpaths.
- Ability to explain and demonstrate the set-up and safe operation of manual lathes, mills, etc.
- Ability to explain and demonstrate the use of common measuring tools (Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, etc.).
- Ability to explain and assist students with blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
- Ability to explain and assist students with performing machine tool math calculations.
- Ability to assist students in reading dimensioned parts drawings, equipment operating instructions, etc.
