Kosher Gourmet is seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented Deli Manager to oversee all daily operations of our kosher deli department. The ideal candidate will ensure the highest standards of kosher compliance, food quality, customer service, and team leadership while driving sales and maintaining an efficient, clean, and welcoming department.
Operations & Food Quality
Oversee daily deli operations, including food preparation, display, and service
Ensure all food is prepared, handled, and stored in strict accordance with kosher laws (kashrut) and company policies
Maintain high standards of food quality, freshness, taste, and presentation
Monitor inventory levels, place orders, receive deliveries, and minimize waste
Ensure proper labeling, rotation (FIFO), and temperature controls at all times
Staff Management & Leadership
Hire, train, schedule, and supervise deli staff
Lead by example to promote teamwork, professionalism, and excellent customer service
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
Enforce company policies, food safety standards, and workplace procedures
Customer Service
Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure a positive shopping experience
Address customer inquiries, special requests, and complaints promptly and professionally
Build relationships with regular customers and uphold Kosher Gourmet’s reputation for quality and trust
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with health department regulations , food safety standards, and kosher certification requirements
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized deli department at all times
Prepare for and assist with health inspections and kosher audits
Sales & Merchandising
Develop attractive displays and promotions to increase sales
Analyze sales trends and adjust product offerings accordingly
Work with management to introduce new items, seasonal specials, and catering options
Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience as a Deli Manager or Assistant Deli Manager (preferred)
Strong knowledge of kosher food practices and requirements (required)
Proven leadership and team management skills
Excellent communication and customer service abilities
Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities
Basic computer skills for inventory, scheduling, and ordering systems
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 20– 30 lbs
Comfortable working with food preparation equipment (slicers, ovens, knives, etc.)
Work Schedule
Full-time position
Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and peak business hours
