Engagement Type: W-2 only.

Overview:

The Client seeks a senior Splunk specialist to design, implement, and optimize enterprise logging, monitoring, and security analytics at scale. The role spans infrastructure architecture/design, onboarding of high-value data sources, standards/policies, performance tuning, and enablement of engineering teamswhile adhering to risk, regulatory, and audit controls common to Financial Services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with Technology management, senior engineers, and support teams to deliver durable Splunk solutions that meet current and future needs.
• Own/advance Splunk architecture (search head/indexer clustering, cluster manager/deployment server, SmartStore, Monitoring Console, license management).
• Onboard/normalize data (UF/HF/HEC/syslog/cloud), align to CIM, define retention/ILM standards.
• Build/maintain dashboards, alerts, KPIs, and content; guide ES correlation as needed.
• Establish technology standards, patterns, and runbooks; contribute to SDLC/ITSM practices and change management.
• Mentor/coach engineers; review proposals/changes from less experienced staff.
• Coordinate with vendors on roadmaps, features, and version upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with risk/regulatory policies, document controls and support audits.
• Engage business partners to clarify requirements and translate them into actionable, testable designs.

Required Qualifications:

• Combined 8+ years higher education and/or professional experience in systems design/architecture/management.
• Strong grasp of SDLC, infrastructure lifecycle, ITSM , and complex distributed systems design.
• Hands-on enterprise Splunk engineering (SH/IDX clusters, data onboarding, CIM, tuning, license mgmt).
• Advanced analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills; excellent written/verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively; complete complex tasks with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications (if applicable):

• Bachelors in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect or Splunk Core Certified Consultant (strongly preferred).
• 8+ years in technical engineering across infrastructure design, data management/interchange, and complex applications.
• Scripting/automation (Python/Bash), config mgmt., and familiarity with server/client & virtualization technologies.
• Financial Services experience; effective facilitation/influencing skills; process-oriented, logical, adaptable, quick learner.
