R&D Catalyst Testing Technician

BASF’s Catalysts division is the global market leader in catalyst technologies. The division develops and produces mobile emissions catalysts as well as process catalysts and offers precious metals trading, recycling and related products and services.

As an R&D catalyst testing technician for our Refining Catalyst business unit (EV/RR) you will build a meaningful career supporting FCC catalyst research, development, and testing at BASF’s Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) catalyst operations located in Attapulgus, GA. The function of this position is to operate, calibrate, and perform basic routine maintenance of a catalyst testing unit (ACE) providing the stakeholders with reliable activity data.

During your 8-hour shift as a R&D Catalyst Testing Technician, you will

• Characterize the activity of FCC catalyst by testing them in ACE units.
• Work collaboratively with R&D and Technical Service teams to plan and prioritize testing.
• Maintain and troubleshoot the two ACE units.
• Diligently document the experimental results as well as the troubleshooting.
• Create standard operating procedures as required and actively participate in all BASF safety practices and programs.

If you...

• Have a BS degree in Chemical Engineering or related sciences or Associate degree with 2 years of applicable experience, OR HS diploma with 5+ years of experience.
• Have basic knowledge of laboratory equipment, analytical methods, and instrumentation
• Have strong written / verbal communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills
• Competent in the use of MS Office tools
• Knowledge of safe handling of chemicals and equipment including detailed record keeping
• Are able to lift and carry up to 25 lb as well as climb ladders and stairs.
