Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Parts & Service Manager to oversee our parts and service department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inventory control, supply chain management, and mechanical knowledge. This role is crucial in ensuring that our operations run smoothly by managing the procurement, storage, and distribution of parts and supplies necessary for equipment repair and maintenance. This role requires excellent leadership skills, a solid understanding of automotive diagnostics, and the ability to upsell services while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
Responsibilities
- Manage the inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring optimal stock levels to meet demand.
- Oversee the ordering process, including demand planning and price negotiations with suppliers.
- Utilize CDK to track parts usage and inventory levels.
- Coordinate with the service department to ensure timely availability of parts for automotive service and repairs.
- Implement effective inventory control measures to minimize waste and reduce costs.
- Train and supervise staff within the parts and service department, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions related to parts procurement and distribution.
- Analyze data to forecast future parts needs based on historical usage trends.
- Oversee daily operations of the service department, ensuring efficiency and high-quality service delivery.
- Manage and mentor service technicians, providing guidance on automotive repairs and diagnostics.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally, ensuring timely resolution.
- Conduct regular training sessions for staff on new technologies and service techniques.
- Monitor inventory levels of parts and supplies, placing orders as necessary to maintain adequate stock.
- Collaborate with the sales team to promote service specials and upsell additional services such as oil changes, brake repairs, alignments, and more.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in all aspects of service operations.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, including auto estimating and service writing documentation.
Requirements
- Knowledge and experience in CDK system.
- Proven experience in parts and service management or a similar role within the automotive industry, preferably with well known brands such as Ford.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with an understanding of equipment maintenance and repair processes.
- Familiarity with supply chain management principles and best practices.
- Experience with demand planning and inventory control systems.
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostics, including transmissions, diesel engine repair, suspension systems, shocks & struts, air brakes, tire services, and auto body repair.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients regarding their vehicle needs.
- Experience in upselling services and managing cash handling processes within a service department.
- Proficient in using automotive software for estimating repairs and managing service records.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate a team of technicians to achieve departmental goals.
- Proficiency in using CDK or similar for tracking inventory, orders and RO's.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and suppliers.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
