Senior Electrical Engineer (Griffin)
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support engineered generator solutions through the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems within generator enclosures. This role ensures safe, reliable power generation through proper system design, testing, and compliance with industry standards.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Senior Electrical Engineer , you will lead and execute the design, installation, commissioning, operation, and ongoing support of electrical systems within generator enclosures. You will ensure reliable and safe power generation through proper system sizing, protection, synchronization, testing, troubleshooting, and strict compliance with applicable electrical standards. This role will also serve as a technical resource for cross-functional teams and support continuous improvement of electrical designs and processes.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
• Lead the design and specification of electrical systems within generator enclosures.
• Develop, review, and approve single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
• Perform protection coordination studies and grounding system design.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and codes (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA).
• Provide advanced technical guidance, installation instructions, and commissioning support for generator systems.
• Support testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex electrical issues in the field and factory.
• Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and manufacturing teams to deliver highly customized solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices and documentation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
Education / Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Professional experience designing electrical systems for power generation or industrial equipment.
• Advanced experience with SolidWorks 3D software; experience with SolidWorks Simulation preferred.
Required Qualifications / Skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
• Strong experience supporting highly customized, engineered-to-order products.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and minimal supervision.
• Advanced ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment used in power generation systems.
• Strong communication skills to clearly convey plans, goals, and technical information to internal teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to read and interpret measurements using standard tools (e.g., tape measure).
Environmental Job Requirements
Environment:
• Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions and around loud noises.
• Work environment may include vibration, strong odors, moving mechanical parts, exposure to electrical shock, flammable liquids and gases, oils and solvents, and work on platforms or equipment more than 4 feet above ground.
Physical:
• Requires appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be worn as necessary.
Travel:
Typically requires travel up to 10% of the time
