Business Development Manager

Your Opportunity with ECG: Business Development Manager
The business development manager will serve as a critical partner to the business development (BD) team, supporting sales operational improvement, CRM optimization, competitive intelligence, and proposal development. This role ensures the smooth functioning of BD workflows, strengthens the firm’s go‑to‑market capabilities, and contributes to strategic growth initiatives. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in healthcare consulting, healthcare business development, or healthcare operations, with strong analytical capability, exceptional communication skills, and proven expertise managing complex, multistakeholder processes.
Your Responsibilities May Include
CRM Administration and Sales Enablement
- Serve as the primary CRM support resource for the BD team.
- Manage CRM updates, reporting, data integrity, and workflow improvements.
- Partner with BD leadership to evaluate and implement upcoming enhancements and automated CRM functions.
- Conduct CRM training for AP-level staff and below, ensuring consistent usage and accurate reporting.
- Support cleanup and tracking of web inquiry leads, partnering with Marketing as needed.
Procurement, Proposal, and Pursuit Support
- Provide RFP, RFI, and contract support across the firm.
- Act as a proposal SME for consulting teams, guiding content selection, formatting, and compliance.
- Maintain and enhance proposal content repositories to improve efficiency and response quality.
- Support cross-divisional pursuits, including high-value or strategic proposals.
- Conduct market research to strengthen proposal strategy, positioning, and competitiveness.
Event and Conference Operations Support
- Support preparation for firm-sponsored events to ensure successful BD meetings and on-site engagement.
- Collaborate with Marketing on:
- Attendee lists.
- Active client checks.
- Outreach cadences.
- Meeting coordination.
- Manage on-site logistics and provide briefing packets for attending leaders.
- Track engagement and outcomes following events.
BD Process Optimization
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows across CRM, proposal development, and market analysis.
- Strengthen collaboration between BD, Marketing, and service lines.
- Help standardize documentation, best practices, and reporting tools to support leadership across the firm.
Competitive Intelligence and Market Research
- Lead competitor research to inform the firm’s market strategy and maintain a strong competitive edge.
- Develop and maintain profiles, trackers, and assessments of key competitors.
- Coordinate and submit FOIA requests, review results, and synthesize actionable insights for leadership.
- Partner with BD and service line leaders to translate competitive findings into strategic recommendations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 7+ years of relevant experience in one or more of the following:
- Healthcare consulting
- Healthcare business development
- Healthcare operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, SharePoint, Dynamics, and PowerPoint
- Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple concurrent work streams, and comfort working with senior leaders and cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in business, healthcare administration, public health, or a related field
- Experience in CRM systems administration
- Prior involvement with proposal development, procurement cycles, competitive intelligence, or healthcare market analysis

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to synthesize market, competitor, and operational insights into concise recommendations
- Organizational awareness and aptitude for partnering across diverse functional groups
- Comfort navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and complex information
Job Locations
- Preferred locations: Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, or Washington DC
- Other locations: Atlanta, Dallas, San Diego, or St. Louis
- Will explore remote options based on candidate qualifications
- Office-based candidates will be required to work a hybrid schedule with an average of 4-6 days per month in the office

The estimated base salary range for this job is $130,000–$160,000 annually. It represents a good faith estimate of the range that ECG reasonably expects to pay at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to years of experience, special skills, and market changes. This job is eligible to participate in ECG’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects ECG’s pay-for-performance philosophy. The job is also eligible to participate in ECG’s benefit plans, which include medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) matching program; unlimited PTO; and other wellness programs.
