About the Role:
The Physician Assistant (PA) at Allergy Asthma & Immunology Specialists plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive healthcare services to patients with allergic, asthmatic, and immunologic conditions. This position involves conducting detailed patient assessments, diagnosing conditions, and developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians. The PA will manage both acute and chronic cases, ensuring continuity of care and patient education to promote optimal health outcomes. Additionally, the role requires staying current with advances in allergy and immunology to apply evidence-based practices effectively. Ultimately, the PA contributes to enhancing patient quality of life through compassionate, expert clinical care within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of Georgia and/or Alabama or able to obtain.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience or strong interest in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology clinical practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous clinical experience in Allergy, Asthma, or Immunology specialty care.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems used in specialty clinics.
- Strong background in patient education and chronic disease management.
- Participation in professional organizations related to Allergy and Immunology.
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough patient histories and physical examinations focused on allergy, asthma, and immunology.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests such as skin prick tests, pulmonary function tests, and laboratory studies.
- Develop and implement treatment plans including medication management, immunotherapy, and patient education.
- Collaborate closely with the Allergist/Immunologist in your practice and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Document patient encounters accurately and maintain compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Provide counseling on disease prevention, management strategies, and lifestyle modifications.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to maintain clinical competencies.
Skills:
The Physician Assistant will utilize clinical assessment and diagnostic skills daily to evaluate patient conditions accurately and develop effective treatment plans. Strong communication skills are essential for educating patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care. Proficiency with electronic medical records facilitates efficient documentation and information sharing. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities enable the PA to adapt treatment approaches based on patient response and emerging clinical evidence. Additionally, organizational skills support managing a diverse patient caseload while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and quality standards.
