The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of the billing cycle for clinical services. This includes preparing and submitting claims, reconciling accounts, verifying insurance, and ensuring timely payment collection. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about supporting Apparo's mission through accurate and efficient financial operations.

Medical and Therapy Billing

• Prepare and submit insurance claims (including Medicaid, private insurance, and managed care) for therapy services rendered

• Follow up on unpaid claims and denials; initiate appeals as needed

• Post payments and reconcile Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records in EMR and billing systems

Administrative and Financial Support

• Verify insurance eligibility and coverage for incoming and current therapy patients

• Respond to billing inquiries from families and third-party payers

• Collaborate with clinical staff and front office to ensure accurate service documentation

• Support financial reporting and audits as needed

• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicaid, and other regulatory guidelines

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, healthcare administration, or related field preferred

• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing (preferably pediatric therapy services)

• Familiarity with Medicaid billing procedures, CPT codes, and insurance verification

• Experience with billing software and electronic medical records (EMR); knowledge of Fusion / Ensora EMR or similar system is a plus

• Excellent attention to detail, communication, and time-management skills

• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion
