Job DescriptionTitle: Production Supervisor
Reports to : Plant Manager
Job Purpose : Ultimately responsible for the day-to-day departmental operations.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :
- Lead set up and changeover activity on machinery
- Support and monitor production activity to ensure operators are following standard work instructions and are meeting quality specifications
- Audit compliance with standard work instructions and process control plans to ensure production of good parts.
- Maintain and audit production information within the company's ERP system
- Maintain production related documents and logs to ensure availability and accuracy.
- Monitor production activity to ensure it is aligned with customer demand and corporate inventory goals.
- Lead department scheduling efforts
- Review un-planned scrap with employees to identify root cause and implement effective countermeasures.
- Oversee the professional development and periodic evaluation of direct reports.
- Identify employee development opportunities and enlist appropriate corporate personnel to assist in construction and implementation of training programs that are comprehensive and regularly reinforced.
- Periodically evaluate staffing levels to ensure human resources are adequate and properly positioned to support current and future production requirements.
- Champion the area’s safety program and coordinate statutory training and compliance.
- Promote Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques in all manufacturing and administrative processes.
- Assist in the development and implementation of visual factory tools and continually monitor their effectiveness.
- Actively solicit suggestions and exploit the experience of employees to develop and implement product and process improvements.
- Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care
- Ensure operational activities and management of equipment and materials are executed in a manner consistent with good stewardship
- Execute all responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards as established by company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent professional experience
- 3 years supervisory experience preferred
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment required (Metal stamping, fabrication, or fastener manufacturing preferred)
- Previous experience with standard shop tools and measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges,etc) required
- Mechanical aptitude and previous experience troubleshooting machinery required
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to use material handling equipment, including forklifts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) required
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
