Service Engineer/Specialist - Peachtree City, Ga (Tyrone)

TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a controls and automation organization seeking a Service Engineer / Specialist to support the reliability and performance of critical control systems. This role is focused on maintaining uptime for live systems while also contributing to implementation, upgrades, and limited project support activities.

Summary

The Service Engineer / Specialist is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for control systems operating in 24/7 environments. This role ensures system reliability through proactive maintenance, rapid incident response, and continuous performance improvement. In addition, the position supports project execution activities including system configuration, startup, and customer training.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and update control systems to ensure optimal performance

• Troubleshoot control system issues and implement corrective and performance improvements

• Monitor service channels (phone, email, ticketing systems) and respond to incidents to meet SLA requirements

• Track KPIs and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently

• Support continuous system reliability and uptime initiatives

• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to urgent system issues as needed

• Review P&IDs and develop instrumentation lists

• Prepare technical documentation and system records

• Configure HMI screens and PLC/DDC/DCS control logic

• Support system networking, integration, and configuration activities

• Assist with onsite startup, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning

• Support customer training and operational handover activities

• Provide technical expertise during customer and sales meetings

• Identify opportunities for additional services or system improvements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in industrial or building automation environments

• Experience with one or more of the following platforms:

  • Tridium Niagara N4

  • Distech (BACnet, LON, Eclypse Controllers)

  • Johnson Controls (Metasys, Facility Explorer)

  • Siemens (Apogee, Talon, DXR, Desigo CC/Insight)

  • Rockwell Automation (FactoryTalk, RSLogix/Studio 5000, PlantPAx)

• Understanding of HVAC systems, P&IDs, and functional testing

• Ability to troubleshoot control systems in live operational environments

• Willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
