Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller and is primarily responsible for coordinating the daily accounting functions of the business. The Sr. Accountant’s responsibilities include performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, assisting in the preparation of financial reports, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned.

To be successful as a Sr. Accountant, you should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills. An outstanding Sr. Accountant should also possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly financial close process, including preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure monthly job costing is accurate and prepare accruals as needed
• Provide oversight, support and leadership for A/R and A/P positions
• Prepare sales tax returns and property tax returns
• Assist with preparing and monitoring budgets, and help with variance analysis
• Assist in the annual audit process, including Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance
• Assist with new ERP and other business software implementations in conjunction with the Controller and VP of Finance & Accounting
• Perform other duties as assigned and deemed necessary by the Controller

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze results and determine areas of improvement and causal effects
• Strong financial analysis skills
• Microsoft Office suite experience including proficient Excel skills
• Solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Strong business acumen and good time management
• Attention to detail
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills

Preferred

• CPA Certification
• Experience with ERP implementation as well as other business software implementations
• NetSuite software experience
• Financial Planning & Analysis experience
• Sales and Use Tax experience
