Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7a-7p) Experience: Less than 1 year License: RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Compact (Multi-state Compact) Certifications: - BLS - Basic Life Support - NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program - ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Must-Have: - Completion of accredited/approved school of nursing with requisite clinical hours - Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills - Ability to function in a fast-paced environment Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. This role ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. The RN practices in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported through a shared governance model. The framework for practice is steered by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the applicable state Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the relevant nursing association. As a member of the patient services team, the individual upholds the voice of the patient and supports service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: - Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care using evidence-based practice. - Provides relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics in a culturally diverse manner. - Partners with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose. - Documents the delivery and quality of safe patient care and promotes a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. - Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner. - Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education. - Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses to ensure a qualified workforce. - Participates in the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other team members. - Supports the efficient and effective use of resources. - Complies with all organizational policies and standards of work. This position requires the ability to read, write, and speak the English language. The RN must optimize technology to support clinical care and possess basic computer skills. Strong critical thinking skills and excellent time management skills are essential. The role demands a decisive, composed, and respectful response to emergencies. Evidence-based practice and nursing research are important components of this position.
