What would my role be?

Carver STEAM Academy is seeking an FAA certified Airframe & Powerplant credential holder part-time instructor to advance our aviation program. In collaboration with several partners students are learning the skills required to build and maintain aircraft and honing those skills by building a Vans RV-12is airplane. In the aviation maintenance pathway students will complete the courses required to learn soft skills ( teamwork, problem-solving, time management, interpersonal, and communication) and hard skills (sheet metal, fasteners, avionics, ect.). In addition to the skills and knowledge above, applicants need to have communication skills to collaborate with partners as necessary to increase program awareness and provide opportunities for students to gain knowledge and experience from industry professionals in their workplaces.

What are my responsibilities?

• Foster relationship with program partners (TangoFlight and Delta)
• Manage industry volunteers
• May require stooping or crouching
• Provides instruction in selected areas of Aviation Technology to ensure that students gain appropriate knowledge and skills about the industry and are prepared for a career and post-secondary opportunities
• Manages and maintains program facilities and equipment
• Adheres to all state guidelines required for the implementation of a successful program
• Provides classroom environment which promotes active learning in subject area
• Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, school and county leadership
• Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
• Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures
• Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities
• Attends school and District-level professional learning activities as directed
• Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
• Seeks and maintains professional learning opportunities through State endorsed professional organizations
• Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
• Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for valid Aviation certification from GaPSC Trades at GaPSC 505-2-.90; Areas of Specialization: (D) Aviation; Section 2.Flight Operations (Options 1, 2, 3 or 4)
• Minimum of 2 years of occupational work experience in the field required

• Classroom management skills
• Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
• Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds

• Available for face-to-face instruction within the school building with students present.
• Pass a GBI Criminal Background Check.
• Must relate well to students and inspire the love of learning.
• Ability to comprehend and follow directives.
• Skilled in teaching diverse students.
