The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a senior electronic technician responsible for accomplishing work related to the development, evaluation, testing, installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems, test equipment [test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE)], and Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), associated interfaces, and other related technical data. Researches, plans, and executes projects to effect solutions for design and/or operational test equipment equipment problems encountered during production. Performs development work and conducts research by tile application or previously established experimental empirical methods and techniques. Interprets results and selects or recommends approach appropriate to the solution of the design problem problem. Plans, designs, and fabricates test equipment to be used in initial testing or electronic system and equipment. Studies available technical data lo determine objectives, inputs, outputs, and tolerances required. Develops schematic diagram(s) and data required for fabrication of prototype test equipment. Where feasible, uses innovative measurement techniques for best experiments to assess both prototype and existing test equipment for feasibility, adequacy, and attainment of objective(s) and/or operational problems encountered in production. Serves as specialist to assigned electronic test equipment. Plans, organizes, and executes limited projects in development of systems which require the solution of both design and operational problems. Establishes the sequence and timing to complete projects. Confers with engineers and may direct a small seam of lower grade technicians in the process of visualizing, suggesting, and working out solutions(s) to design or operational problems. Under direction of senior engineers, performs technical research necessary to define solutions for modernization or replacement or aging or obsolete equipment. Studies available technical data of existing equipment and supported workload to ascertain requirements for an upgrade or replacement acquisition. Conducts studies of available technologies for commercial off the shelf (COTS) alternatives and, if not available, specifies requirements for custom alternatives. Participates in all stages of the upgrade or replacement acquisition from concept through acceptance, identifies process improvement opportunities and assists with process improvement efforts such as Lean Depot Repair (LDR) initiatives. Provides support to production workers. Analyzes complex problems determining whether causes are in the software, interface, line replaceable unit (LRU), shop replaceable unit (SRU), technical data, facilities or other associated related items. Analyzes problem and effects design changes, data revisions, and/or facility modification after proper coordination and approval from directorate managers or program technicians and, when needed other involved directorates, i.e. Procurement. Civil Engineering, etc. Complies with federal. state. and local health, safety, environmental regulations and procedures. Performs work in an ethical and professional manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Ensures strict adherence to federal, state, and local codes concerning health, safety, and the environment. Maintains awareness of the regulations concerning professional and ethical standards as well as regulatory guidance dictating the appropriate conduct awarded the position and profession. Performs other related duties as assigned. Supports all management policies and procedures, including working overtime when required to meet workload requirements. Works to achieve and support quality improvement in all products and services. Maintains documentation of actions within the organization and with other organizations to allow for transfer of workload, configuration control, and project status tracking. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing. Requirements: 1. Advanced technical knowledge of electronic concepts, principles, and practices. 2. Knowledge of integrated electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, optical, and mechanical systems. 3. Knowledge of the operations. products, services, needs, and goals of the program(s) and the organizations studied or served, and related customers, functions, resources, and users. 4. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, and/or technical orders. 5. Skill in interpreting drawings. specifications, schematics, and other technical data applicable to complex integrated electronic systems and associated software, test equipment, facilities, etc. 6. Skill in the set-up, operation, maintenance, repair, and calibration of computer controlled Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) in varied and controlled environments. 7. Ability to analyze, interpret. and apply rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations and recommends timely and economical solutions. 8. Ability to plan and organize work and coordinate with engineering. production shops, and other disciplines. 9. Ability to use computers to operate and program ATE and document administrative actions. 10. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain good working relations.
