Job Summary
The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading on-shift maintenance personnel, ensuring all electrical systems, equipment, and production processes operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with production goals. This role oversees workflow, equipment reliability, employee training, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The position requires strong technical expertise in electrical systems, PLCs, and industrial machinery, along with hands-on leadership and continuous operational oversight.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise electrical maintenance personnel and on-shift activities to meet or exceed production, quality, and safety standards.
Assign work, manage workflow, monitor progress, and verify the accuracy and quality of completed tasks.
Assist employees in troubleshooting issues and completing daily maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with production schedules, job sequencing, and equipment setup.
Verify timecard information, record overtime, and maintain proper documentation.
Coordinate maintenance activities with related departments to support safe and efficient plant operations.
Ensure proper utilization of manpower, tools, and machinery, including training and onboarding of new personnel.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and enforce safe work practices throughout the facility.
Recommend purchases of tools, equipment, and materials; initiate purchase requisitions as needed.
Prepare and maintain production, maintenance, and operational reports.
Maintain constant awareness of machinery and equipment condition; address issues proactively.
Provide 24/7 support for plant operations when on call.
Required Skills & Abilities
Proficiency with computer applications including Excel, Word, and maintenance management systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, eMaint).
Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to train, coach, and develop maintenance personnel.
5–7 years of experience in electrical engineering, industrial technology, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
Hands-on experience with both DC and AC motors, variable frequency drives, and controlled systems (Allen-Bradley preferred).
Proficient with PLCs, servo systems, drives, and basic PLC programming and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of electrical system design, repair, and analysis.
Ability to perform diagnostic testing using multimeters, amp meters, and meggers (AC/DC voltage testing, continuity, insulation testing, etc.).
Experience working with high voltages (220–480 VAC), low-voltage control systems (12–24 VDC), and signal voltages (0–10 VDC, 4–20 mA).
Ability to read and interpret U.S. and European electrical schematics.
Skilled in advanced panel building, including circuit layout, push-button additions, and relay modifications.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise electrical maintenance personnel within the plant.
Coordinate internal electrical projects and ensure proper execution.
Oversee electrical contractors working onsite, as needed.
Education & Experience
2–4 years of experience working in a maintenance department.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1–2 years of formal technical training in electrical, mechanical, or industrial systems preferred.
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to communicate verbally and in writing.
Frequently required to sit and use hands for typing, writing, and handling small tools or components.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, or reach with hands and arms.
Visual abilities must include close and distance vision.
Must be able to lift and/or move items over 10 pounds occasionally.
