Universe DBA
Kforce has a client in Atlanta, GA that is seeking an experienced Universe Database Administrator to backfill a critical role supporting a boutique ERP system (OM). All team members work fully remote across the U.S. (NY, TX, Chicago). The culture is low-ego, supportive, and highly collaborative. Position Type & Hiring Flexibility: This role starts as a contract position due to an ongoing evaluation of whether the company will retain OM or migrate to a new ERP platform. Should the OM remain in place, conversion to full-time employment is available after six months. Summary: This position is high urgency due to the upcoming departure of the current DBA, whose final day is May 1st. The selected contractor will need to onboard quickly and work closely with the current DBA for side-by-side knowledge transfer, particularly around:
- Monthly maintenance workflows
- Undocumented processes
- Universe database structure and uptime
- System file structures and operational dependencies
- Programmers/Level 2 Support - handling ERP/OM enhancements
- Three DBAs, including: Universe DB, DBA for Windows applications interfacing with OM, and DBA supporting network integration
- Own the administration, maintenance, and operational uptime of the Universe DB
- Maintain system file structures, data integrity, and monthly operational processes
- Troubleshoot system issues and ensure performance reliability
- Manage routine and ad hoc maintenance requests
- Quickly absorb tribal knowledge from the outgoing DBA
- Document processes and workflows that have historically been undocumented
- Hands-on experience with Universe database administration
- Knowledge of file structures, system maintenance, and uptime management
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mentality
