About the role

As Wattch’s inaugural accounting and finance hire, you will own and scale the financial backbone of the company. You’ll take ownership of our day-to-day financial operations—AP/AR, forecasting, cash flow management, monthly close—but your mandate goes beyond keeping the trains running on time. You will be given broad authority to automate, redefine, and improve every aspect of our accounting, finance and compliance functions with the goal of taking Wattch from zero to one.

You’ll design the systems and workflows that shape Wattch’s next phase of growth—creating scalable processes, tightening our unit economics understanding, informing strategic decisions, and establishing clear financial standards. Working directly with the GM and CEO, you’ll turn financial data into operational clarity and help guide decisions across product, operations, and business strategy.

On a given day, you will be...

• Serving as the finance point of contact for executive leadership, operations, vendors, customers, and other important stakeholders
• Managing our customer credit program, including accounts receivable, reconciliations, and negotiating payment arrangements
• Overseeing accounts payable and cash flow planning
• Reviewing monthly financial statements and maintaining accurate books

From time to time, you might also be...

• Driving cost optimization initiatives and building scalable accounting processes and internal controls
• Supporting variable compensation plans, revenue recognition, and other revenue operations activities
• Coordinating significant financial and compliance events such as investor reporting, 409A valuations, tax returns, SOC audits, and insurance renewals
• Supporting people operations processes including team member onboarding and offboarding and ongoing security and compliance policies
• Managing our renewable energy certificate registration processes

You're perfect for this role if you...

• Have 3+ years of full-cycle finance experience with strong GAAP knowledge
• Are familiar with the financial strategy and revenue motion at fast-growing SaaS startups
• Are detail-oriented with high standards for completeness and accuracy
• Excel at (and enjoy) building and improving processes and managing your department independently
• Communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance team members and work collaboratively across functions to drive overall business outcomes
• Can analyze and query financial databases to extract insights and troubleshoot issues
• Live in (or are willing to relocate to) Atlanta

Bonus points if you…

• Have served in a customer-facing role and can handle difficult conversations with prospects and customers
• Have experience with tools such as QuickBooks Online, Stripe, Brex, and Avalara
• Understand revenue operations, query languages such as SQL, or SaaS financial metrics
• Have experience managing renewable energy certificates (RECs)
• Have built accounting systems and internal controls from scratch
• Have managed corporate insurance policies or multi-state tax compliance
• Have worked in renewable energy, cleantech, or SaaS or in high-growth, startup environments
• Hold a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
