Job Title: Director of Financial Services
Location: Sandy Springs, GA
Position Summary
The Director of Financial Services is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, with direct leadership of the Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Financial Reporting functions. This role manages a team of AP/AR staff and Staff Accountants to ensure the timely and accurate production of monthly financial statements for HOA clients. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with proven experience in HOA or property management accounting and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise and support AP, AR, and Staff Accounting teams (7–9 staff members).
- Assign responsibilities, monitor productivity, and conduct performance reviews.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
- Serve as primary point of contact for escalated financial issues with Boards of Directors.
- Oversee transitions during onboarding of new communities and conversion of exiting ones.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Oversee collections, cash applications, and owner billing processes.
- Maintain strong vendor and client relationships to resolve billing and payment matters.
Financial Reporting
- Review and approve monthly financial statements prepared by Staff Accountants.
- Guarantee timely delivery of accurate financials to meet client and internal standards.
- Assist with annual budget preparation and external audit requests.
- Oversee preparation and submission of tax payments for all associations.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with HOA regulations and accounting standards.
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen efficiency and accuracy.
- Partner with cross-functional departments to streamline operations and reporting.
Banking & Treasury Management
- Serve as primary liaison for all banking relationships.
- Oversee opening and closing of HOA bank accounts, ensuring proper authorization and documentation.
- Coordinate with banks on fraud prevention, reconciliation, and account issues.
- Provide auditors and financial institutions with necessary documentation.
- Implement and monitor strong internal controls for all banking and cash management functions.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
- HOA or property management accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite.
