Engineering Technician II
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of relevant experience. Combination of relevant education and years of experience may be substituted.
- Knowledge of practices of construction and civil engineering as applied to a water and wastewater utility.

- Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- First aid/ CPR certification, Competent Person/ Trench Safety Certification, and Level 1B NPDES permit within 1 year of being in role.
- Receive and maintain OSHA 10-hour card within 1 year of being in role.
- The Engineering Department must always have an active professional, either on staff or through a defined consulting agreement, who holds a Professional Engineering registration to act with Delegated Authority in compliance with Georgia EPD.
- Reviews drawings and designs to ensure compliance with CWW standards.
- Ensures construction is work being executed correctly by contractors with authority to make field changes as needed.
- Responds to questions and inquiries concerning water and sewer design and related regulations.
- Evaluates and interprets various types of plans and blueprints in relation to water and sewer design requirements and makes recommendations accordingly.
- Performs water and sewer inspections, testing, and acceptance.
- Collaborates with engineers, architects, builders, contractors, developers, and customers providing answers and reviewing various procedures supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Compiles information to produce various departmental reports, documents, material lists, cost estimates, and quotes for various management and customer needs.
- Observes all safety rules and regulations.
- Performs surveying as needed for project support.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, climb, balance or crawl, use hands and arms, talk, and listen.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
- Repetitive movement using equipment is involved.
- Employee must be able to stand for an extended amount of time at the jobsite.
- Employee must be physically able to walk several miles during the day.
- Employee must be physically able to regularly reach overhead.
- Employee must regularly lift, carry and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally 25 pounds. Assistance is required on weight amounts above those listed.
- Employee will be regularly exposed to moderate or high noise level, extreme outside weather conditions, uneven, steep, slippery terrain conditions, dusty conditions and wet and/or humid conditions.
- Employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment operation.
- Employees will be subject to roadway hazards, i.e. traffic.
- Employee will be subject to outside hazards, i.e. poison ivy, bees, spiders, dirt, animals.
- Employee will be subject to confined areas, i.e. confined spaces, sewer manholes, water vaults, wastewater pits, and/or protected trenches.
