Locum - Physician - Primary Care Atlanta, GA (Atlanta)

Mercy Care is in need of a provider for locums coverage as soon as credentialed! The physician will provide care for children and adults, with some experience with HIV being helpful.

Position Details

• Start Date: September 2025
• Schedule: Monday-Thursday, Day shift, No call
• Environment: Public Service, outpatient clinic serving homeless and underserved populations
• Patient Load: 10-12 patients per day
• Patient Population: Mostly adults
• EMR: Epic
• Coverage: 6 mid-level providers
• Supervision: Will not supervise other healthcare providers
• Responsibilities: Will not respond to in-house codes or provide backup to ED
• Equipment: Defibrillator available
• Procedures: Comfortable performing pelvic exams, pap smears, and employment physicals

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Medical Director, the Staff Physician provides direct patient care, supervision, and consultation to clinic staff. Responsibilities include quality assurance, chart and lab review, adherence to protocols, and compliance with regulations such as CLIA, HIPAA, PCER, and OSHA. The physician helps ensure adherence to laws and standards for quality care in the ambulatory setting and assists in directing the Physician Dispensary and medical materials in the absence of the Medical Director.

Patient Care

Provides care for primarily adults aged 18-65 or geriatric patients over 65. May also care for infants (0-1 year), children (1-12 years), or adolescents (13-17 years).

Qualifications

• Active GA license and DEA registration
• Board Certified in Family Medicine (FM) or Internal Medicine (IM), with IM preferred
• Graduation from a state-approved school with relevant specialty
• Minimum 5 years post-training experience
• BLS certification
• Local only, mileage reimbursed up to $50/day
• Travel costs not covered; other travel included in rates
• Conversion rate cap: $25,000
• Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred
• Experience with underserved and homeless populations preferred
• Supervisory or administrative experience preferred
