SUMMARY
Hal’s the Steakhouse is seeking professional, reliable, and hands-on Sous Chef to support daily kitchen operations at our Atlanta location. This role works directly with the Executive Chef to ensure consistent execution of our established menu, maintain the highest quality standards, and help lead and develop the kitchen team.
The Sous Chef plays a critical leadership role in maintaining the discipline, organization, and professionalism that define the Hal’s experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Kitchen Operations & Service
- Assist in overseeing all daily kitchen operations and service execution
- Ensure all menu items are prepared and presented consistently to Hal’s standards
- Supervise kitchen staff during prep and service to ensure efficiency and quality
- Maintain proper handling, preparation, and storage of all products, including premium steaks and seafood
- Help ensure the kitchen remains clean, organized, and service-ready at all times
Team Leadership & Support
- Support the Executive Chef in leading, training, and developing kitchen staff
- Help hold team members accountable to performance and professionalism standards
- Assist with scheduling and shift coverage as needed
- Foster a respectful, team-oriented work environment
- Act as a leader on duty in the absence of the Executive Chef
- Lead by example through professionalism, work ethic, and consistency
Inventory, Prep, & Cost Control
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and product receiving
- Ensure proper product handling, storage, and rotation
- Monitor prep levels and communicate needs clearly
- Help minimize waste and maintain proper portioning standards
- Track invoice submissions
Standards & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Help ensure the kitchen is inspection-ready at all times
- Uphold the quality and consistency that define the Hal’s brand

Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a Sous Chef or kitchen leadership role, preferably in fine dining or upscale steakhouses
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Experience managing high-volume, high-standard kitchens
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations and service flow
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
- Professional demeanor, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence
