Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM) Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Registered Nurse (Single State or Multi-State Compact) Certifications: - BLS - Basic Life Support - PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (Provisional within 180 Days) - TNCC - Trauma Nurse Core Course (Provisional within 18 Months) - ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Provisional within 180 Days) Must-Have: - Ability to read, write, and speak English - Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills - Excellent time management skills - Ability to function in a fast-paced environment Description: The RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers and other leaders. RN competencies are derived from evidence-based practice and research. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed and knowledgeable. They uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act. The RN implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards. As a member of the patient services team, the RN upholds the voice of the patient. They support system policies and procedures while striving for service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Exemplary Practice and Outcomes: The RN performs the Nursing Process in clinical care using evidence-based practice. They utilize analytical and critical thinking to ensure that care is individualized. They coordinate care through effective partnerships recognizing that caring is central to optimal patient outcomes. The RN provides patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. They engage in relationship-based care that adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity. Patient and significant others are always included in care planning and delivery. The RN practices using current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration: The RN coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care. They promote diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods. Timely documentation is completed, and a respectful clinical environment is maintained. The RN demonstrates teamwork by promoting recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members. They actively support and participate in performance improvement activities. Professional Development and Initiative: The RN completes all required competency assessments and mandatory education. They serve as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff to ensure a qualified workforce. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: The RN promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research. They participate in data collection and pose clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice. They uphold all organizational policies and clinical competencies. Resources and Support: The RN proactively plans for patient care across the care continuum. They participate in developing protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
