Protect waterways. Safeguard compliance. Make a real difference.
We're seeking an experienced Water Quality Specialist to support the environmental compliance program at Fort Gordon, Georgia. This is a hands-on role focused on inspections, permitting, and reporting related to stormwater management and clean water regulations. If you're passionate about protecting natural resources and thrive in both the field and behind a computer, we want to hear from you.

- Work outdoors and engage directly with environmental systems and infrastructure-this is not a desk-only job.

- Stable, full-time role with a consistent weekday schedule and limited travel (just a few times per year for training).
What You Will Do
- Conduct inspections of facilities, construction sites, outfalls, and stormwater structures to ensure compliance with regulations such as NPDES, MS4 permits, and best management practices.
- Assist with implementation and updates of Storm water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Storm water Management Plans (SWMP).
- Collect and document GPS coordinates for municipal storm water systems and collaborate with GIS specialists.
- Review and maintain permit documentation, databases, and compliance records (both digital and hard copy).
- Prepare regulatory reports, conduct outreach and education, and provide technical expertise during meetings or project reviews.
- Support implementation of impaired waters and industrial permit programs and contribute to annual reporting to regulatory agencies.
You'll Know You're a Good Fit for This Position If You Have
- A degree in Environmental Science (or a related field) and at least 3 years of experience in water quality compliance.
- Familiarity with Georgia Erosion and Sediment Control Certifications (Level 1B and Level II) or the ability to obtain them.
- Experience with water sampling, interpreting lab data, and completing chain-of-custody documentation.
- Working knowledge of NPDES regulations and the Clean Water Act, especially as applied in Georgia.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office, databases, SharePoint, and GPS data collection tools.
- Physical ability to conduct day-long fieldwork-including walking varied terrain, lifting heavy manhole covers, and working in all weather.
- A valid driver's license
