Critical Systems Technician II - Battery
Join a dedicated team in Atlanta, GA as a Critical Systems Technician II - Connected (Battery), where you will play a key role in supporting the reliability and performance of critical battery systems for Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. This position offers hands-on experience with battery installations, maintenance, and testing in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities
- Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
- Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of battery systems with minimal disruption to customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site during all phases of work.
- Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
- Interact effectively with internal teams and external customers to address service needs.
- Assist in the warehouse and support other service divisions (Switch Gear, Operations, HVAC) as needed.
- Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete tasks.
- Learn and perform tasks such as disconnecting and connecting sealed batteries, building battery racks, and installing spill containment systems.
- Collect and enter data from pre-installation tests and preventive maintenance services using a laptop computer.
- Gain experience in troubleshooting, routine, and emergency maintenance of DC battery systems with increasing independence.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures and critical facility work rules.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Travel approximately 30% or more as needed for service assignments.
- Other duties as assigned by Services Management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Ability to use digital multimeters, amp clamps, and battery testing equipment (such as Alber Cellcorder) after training.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn proper use of isolation devices, arc-flash suits, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to connect battery strings in series, parallel, and series-parallel configurations.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work collaboratively, follow instructions, and maintain a strong focus on safety.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
