Industrial Power & Controls Electrician (Multicraft)
A day in the life
You start your shift by logging into the maintenance system to review open work orders and electrical repair priorities. From there, you’ll move between planned PMs and urgent diagnostics—one hour you’re tracing a fault on a 480V three‑phase circuit, the next you’re fabricating a bracket and welding it into place so a sensor aligns perfectly. You’re equally comfortable on a ladder running conduit as you are with a meter in hand validating control power and drives. Throughout the day, you document your work, follow blueprints, and advise supervisors if operating a machine could be unsafe.
What you’ll tackle
- Review job status and repair queues using a computer-based maintenance system.
- Inspect and test electrical issues using meters, schematics, manuals, and blueprints.
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on equipment and electrical circuits.
- Handle mechanical maintenance and repairs alongside electrical work.
- Fabricate parts and weld brackets as needed to support reliable operation.
- Install and connect power to machines; run cables between equipment per schematics and manuals.
- Terminate wires to breakers, transformers, and related components across low- and high-voltage systems.
- Diagnose and repair failures in transformers, motors, lighting, and related apparatus; replace damaged wiring and cabling.
- Use construction power tools, precision measuring devices, and electrical test equipment safely and effectively.
- Inspect systems for hazards, defects, and code compliance; make adjustments or repairs as required.
- Create sketches or follow blueprints to plan wiring/equipment locations and verify adherence to building and safety codes.
- Install conduit and associated wiring; troubleshoot systems to root cause and correct issues.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, and repair wiring, machines, and equipment.
- Advise management when continued equipment operation presents safety risks.
- Follow all Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements and site safety procedures, including wearing required PPE.
What you bring
- Recent technical school graduates (Electrical Systems, Mechatronics, or Industrial Maintenance) are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Ability to pass the Ramsay Assessment (60 mechanical questions + 60 electrical questions).
- Machining capability (mill, lathe, grinder, saw, drill, etc.).
- Welding experience (TIG and stick).
- Fluency in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
- Basic plumbing skills (threading, soldering joints, etc.).
Hands-on systems experience
