Industrial Mechatronics Maintenance Technician

Picture your day on the plant floor: a production line slows, you step in, diagnose the fault using your digital multimeter and amp meter, read the schematics, and get to the root cause—whether it’s a 480V three-phase power issue, a low-voltage control fault, a pneumatic leak, or a hydraulic pressure drop. You source the exact replacement from the on‑site stock room, swap the component, verify continuity/current/voltage/resistance, and bring the machine back up safely and quickly to cut downtime to a minimum.

Between calls, you execute preventive maintenance you scheduled in Maintenance Connection (MC) or another CMMS, update records, and plan the next PM cycle. You’ll rotate across extrusion and thermoforming lines, conveyor systems, VFD-driven motors, servo systems, and PLCs (Allen‑Bradley and Siemens), keeping automation running smoothly. Some days you work solo; on others, you’ll partner with production, assist teammates, and help train newer techs. Every day, you use the right PPE, follow safety rules, and maintain a clean, orderly work area.

What You’ll Take On

  • Troubleshoot high‑voltage systems up to 480V 3‑phase and low‑voltage control circuits, including computer‑based controls.
  • Operate and interpret test equipment: digital multimeters and ammeters.
  • Test components and systems for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Diagnose and repair pneumatics and hydraulics; perform set‑ups and PMs on automation/production equipment.
  • Repair/replace industrial components: pumps, motors, drive chains, shafts, bearings, sprockets, drive belts, sheaves, circuit breakers, fuses, switches, electrical/electronic parts, and wiring.
  • Read electrical schematics; identify electrical symbols accurately.
  • Use Maintenance Connection (MC) or another CMMS to plan PM, log work orders, and complete day‑by‑day duties.
  • Leverage a computer‑based inventory system to generate reports and locate spare parts.
  • Deliver quality work within time standards set by management (via verbal and written instructions).
  • Consistently use mandatory safety equipment and follow all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist maintenance/production teams and help train other employees when needed.
  • Work independently or as part of a team; maintain flexibility in your schedule.
  • Keep areas of responsibility safe, clean, and organized.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance technician experience; plastics industry exposure preferred.
  • Strong hands‑on background across: mechanical and electrical maintenance, VFDs, servo motors, and PLCs.
  • Demonstrated strengths in customer service, interpersonal skills, oral/written communication, teamwork, judgment, motivation, planning, organizing, professionalism, quality, safety, adaptability, attendance, punctuality, dependability, and initiative.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • Own a reliable set of tools and use them safely and effectively.

  • PLC troubleshooting and programming experience
  • Creating preventive maintenance plans
  • Equipment, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting
  • 120/208/240/480V systems
  • Hydraulics experience
  • Troubleshooting industrial automation equipment
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

Tools & Technologies You’ll Use

  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Extrusion machines
  • Thermoforming machines
  • PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens)
