Dual Role: Line Cook & Manager

Job Title: Line Cook / Shift Manager (Hybrid Role)

Type: Approx. 5 shifts/week: 2 Line Cook, 2-3 Manager

Location: City Lines Bar & Grill

Reports to: General Manager / Executive Chef

Job Summary:

We’re looking for a versatile and motivated individual to join our team in a hybrid role that combines hands-on kitchen work with front-of-house leadership. This position is ideal for someone with solid line cook experience who is ready to take on more responsibility, or a manager who still loves being on the line.

As a Line Cook / Shift Manager , you’ll split your week between working kitchen shifts as a key part of the culinary team and stepping into a leadership role during designated manager shifts—helping oversee operations, staff, and guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Line Cook Shifts (2 per week):

• Prepare and execute dishes according to recipe and quality standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of your station and kitchen
• Assist with prep, inventory, and closing duties as needed
• Communicate clearly with BOH and FOH teams to ensure smooth service

Manager Shifts (3 per week):

• Oversee daily operations during your shift, including FOH and BOH coordination
• Lead pre-shift meetings and ensure all team members are informed and supported
• Handle guest issues or service challenges with professionalism and urgency
• Monitor flow of service, manage breaks, and maintain labor targets
• Ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance standards are met throughout the venue
• Support closing duties, end-of-shift reporting, and cash handling

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience as a line cook or chef in a fast-paced kitchen
• Previous management or shift lead experience strongly preferred
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Calm under pressure, solution-oriented, and a team player
• ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain) preferred
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

This is an evening position. Typical start times are between 4:00–5:00 PM, and shifts run through kitchen or bar close depending on the role.

Weekend availability is required—Saturday and Sunday shifts are mandatory.
