We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Civil 3D, grading, drainage, erosion control, utilities, and site/civil design. This position involves the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects. The Project Engineer will work closely with the project manager to perform research, design development, calculations, and support project delivery, ensuring successful project execution and client satisfaction.

The successful candidate will apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for civil engineering projects of various sizes and complexity. They will leverage technical knowledge, experience, and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. The role involves developing conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software. Additionally, the Project Engineer will lead, mentor, train, and review the work of junior engineering staff, providing constructive feedback as a task or squad leader.

As a member of the design team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence to the schedule and budget on projects.

  • Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.

  • Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline.

  • Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives.

  • Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.

  • Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or

  • Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or

  • PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

  • Understands the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning.

  • Coordinates work planning and design effectively across multiple technical disciplines.

  • Prepares high quality deliverables that are on time, and within budget and scope.

  • Optimizing work processes by using knowledge of the most effective and efficient ways to get things done with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Independently progresses the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.

  • Exhibiting experience with Civil 3D, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam Revu, and the Microsoft Office Suite of software.

  • Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, erosion control, utilities, and site/civil design principles

  • Exhibiting a thorough understanding of the application related to engineering, geometric and algebraic principles.

  • Managing time, proactively forecasting, and communicating project development needs.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification

What We Prefer:

  • Depth of knowledge using Civil 3D to develop site/civil drawings

  • Past experience designing civil plans on multi-disciplinary projects

  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations and standards in Georgia
