Azure Infrastructure Architect

IDR is seeking a Azure Infrastructure Architect to join one of our top clients for a hybrid opportunity in Atlanta, GA . In this role, you will design, maintain, and optimize a Microsoft/Azure infrastructure and database ecosystem end-to-end, ensuring services, servers, networking, and reporting tools work together as a cohesive architecture. This is an excellent opportunity to support a large public-sector environment focused on reliability, automation, and scalable cloud infrastructure.

Position Overview for the Azure Infrastructure Architect:

• Design, configure, provision, and manage Microsoft Azure services and Windows Server infrastructure to support enterprise database environments.
• Own end-to-end architecture across databases, Azure services, servers, and networking/firewall components to ensure secure, reliable connectivity.
• Automate routine maintenance, scheduling, monitoring, and orchestration of complex database jobs and ETL workflows using scripting.
• Determine infrastructure and server requirements for application/database migrations, including sizing and configuration recommendations.
• Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and incident troubleshooting across both infrastructure and database layers for mission-critical systems.

Requirements for the Azure Infrastructure Architect:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server, and Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure in enterprise environments.
• Proven ability to architect and support networking needs including firewall requests, IP addressing, ports, and connectivity requirements.
• Advanced scripting/automation experience with tools such as PowerShell and SSIS to manage maintenance, scheduling, monitoring, and ETL processes.
• Experience integrating Power BI within an Azure/data ecosystem, with strong troubleshooting skills across database and infrastructure layers.
