Atlanta Fine Homes is seeking an experienced and innovative Applications Engineer to design, implement, and manage robust, scalable, and secure software applications that advance our business objectives. The Applications Engineer will act as a technical leader, translating business requirements into technical solutions, and providing hands-on mentorship to team members. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, continuous improvement, and developing others while ensuring solutions meet business needs and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Solution Design & Architecture:

• Lead the design and development of comprehensive application architectures and technical solutions tailored to business requirements.
• Produce system architecture diagrams, design documents, and technical specifications.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship:

• Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for development teams, providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
• Foster professional growth among team members by coaching, sharing best practices, and facilitating technical learning opportunities.
• Take initiative in resolving complex technical challenges and lead by example in the adoption of current engineering standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Work closely with business analysts, product managers, project managers, and other stakeholders to accurately capture and translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and mutual understanding.

Technology Evaluation & Implementation:

• Evaluate new tools, platforms, and technologies to drive improvements in system performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
• Lead the adoption of modern methodologies and tools where appropriate.

Systems Integration:

• Design and implement integration solutions for internal applications and third-party platforms, ensuring security, data integrity, and robust performance.

Risk Management:

• Identify potential technical risks and propose proactive mitigation strategies during the design and development phases.

Documentation:

• Develop and maintain detailed, up-to-date architecture and technical documentation for applications, integrations, and support processes.

Compliance & Security:

• Ensure all solutions comply with relevant regulatory requirements, security policies, and industry standards (such as GDPR, PCI, etc.).

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the applications engineering function.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 2+ years’ experience as an Applications Engineer, Solutions Architect, or comparable role.
• In-depth knowledge of software architectures (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman), development life cycles, and modern methodologies (Agile, DevOps, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and on-premise solutions.
• Proficiency with application development, microservices architectures, RESTful APIs, and database technologies (SQL/NoSQL).
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, security protocols, and compliance standards.
• Demonstrated success in leading teams and mentoring junior engineers.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert) preferred.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with automation, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with data analytics, AI/ML integrations, or IoT solutions.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to align technology with strategic business goals.
