St. James Preschool is an outreach ministry of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. It is a warm, loving, play based environment which focuses on academic learning, and social and emotional development.

Role Description:

This is a part-time on-site role for a 4 Year Old Teacher at St. James Preschool in McDonough, GA for the 2026-2027 School Year beginning in August. As a 4 year old teacher at St. James Preschool, you will be responsible for providing a nurturing and educational learning environment for the children, developing age-appropriate lesson plans, and implementing engaging activities. You will be working with two other 4 year old teachers, and must be a team player! Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to monitoring the children's growth and development, maintaining a safe and clean classroom, communicating with parents about their child's progress, and preparing children to enter Kindergarten.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year experience working in a preschool/daycare with 4 year old children.
• Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience and understanding.
• Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
• CPR and First Aid certification (required - available as training hours).
• Must share Christian beliefs (Catholic preferred, but not required).

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and care for all children in a nurturing and respectful manner.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans with a team of teachers.
• Creates a center-based, literacy rich classroom environment.
• Maintains health and sanitation standards in the classroom.
• Blends religious education throughout the preschool program.
• Maintains positive guidance strategies and conferences with parents to solve problems.
• Maintains attendance records, daily reports and assessments.
• Participates in orientation, staff meetings, in-service, workshops, continuing education staff development, CPR/First Aid.
• Follows program guidelines based on guidelines provided by the Director of Parish Preschools, Office of Catholic Schools.
• Checks environment on a regular basis to insure quality, health and safety.
• Cares for equipment and supplies.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Preschool Director.

Job Type: Part-time 20-25 hours/week

Experience:

• Preschool: 1 year (Required).

License/Certification:

• CPR Certification (Preferred).

Shift Availability:

• Day Shift (Required).

Ability to Commute:

• McDonough, GA 30252 (Required).

Ability to Relocate:

• McDonough, GA 30252: Relocate before starting work (Required).
