Job Summary: As a Hotel Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, and structural systems within a hotel facility. Your expertise will help create a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff, contributing to an exceptional guest experience.
Hotel Engineer Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as power outages, plumbing leaks, and equipment failures, and take necessary actions to mitigate the impact on guests and staff.
- Equipment Monitoring: Monitor and maintain hotel equipment, including boilers, chillers, elevators, and fire safety systems, to ensure their reliability and safety.
- Energy Efficiency: Implement energy-saving measures and eco-friendly practices to reduce utility costs and minimize the hotel's environmental footprint.
- Project Management: Oversee and coordinate renovation projects, upgrades, and installations of new systems, ensuring they meet local building codes and regulations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and work orders to track maintenance history and plan for future maintenance needs.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations, conducting regular safety inspections and addressing any identified hazards promptly.
- Training and Support: Provide training and guidance to hotel staff on safety procedures and equipment operation to promote a safe working environment.
- Vendor Relations: Coordinate with external contractors, suppliers, and vendors for specialized maintenance and repair services when necessary.
- Budget Management: Assist in budget planning by providing input on maintenance and repair needs and controlling expenses within budgetary constraints.
Hotel Engineer Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or vocational training in relevant fields preferred.
- Proven experience in hotel engineering, facility maintenance, or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and energy-efficient practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in emergency situations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills for interacting with guests, staff, and external partners.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
- Valid driver's license may be required, depending on the hotel's location.
