Commercial Sign Painter / Shop Technician

• 5+ years spray painting experience

• Commercial sign shop experience

• HVLP spray gun operation

• Color matching (PMS/Pantone)

• 2K polyurethane & automotive paint application

• Substrate prep (sanding, priming, cleaning)

• Precision masking & fine detail finishing

• Spray booth operation & spray gun maintenance

• Safety & respirator compliance

• Blueprint & job spec reading

Preferred / Multi-Trade Skills (Higher Pay Potential):

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Paint Preparation & Surface Finishing: Clean, sand, prime, and prep a wide variety of sign substrates including aluminum, acrylic, steel, wood, and composite materials.

• Paint Application: Apply single-stage, two-stage, polyurethane, automotive-grade, and specialty paints using spray guns (HVLP) and hand-finishing tools.

• Color Matching & Mixing: Accurately mix paints to match custom Pantone/PMS brand colors and specific client specifications.

• Shop Production Support: Assist with general shop workflow including masking, unmasking, sanding, and final quality inspection prior to delivery or installation.

• Cross-Functional Capabilities (Bonus): Assist with metal fabrication, channel letter assembly, wiring/LED installation, or structural sign fitting as needed.

• Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain spray booths, guns, fluid lines, mixing stations, and safety equipment to ensure peak operation and OSHA compliance.

The essential functions of this role include:

• working in a smoke free environment
• wearing steel toe shoes
• working in a non-temperature controlled environment
• manual lifting up to 50lbs
• standing for 9 hours at one time
