Regional Manager - Field Force
KR Wolfe is a nationally recognized leader in technology integration, installation, and specialty construction services. We support healthcare, government, education, and commercial clients nationwide with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence. Our people are the foundation of our success.
_________________________________________________________________________ About the Role
The Regional Manager is a leadership position that owns the full people management, day-to-day scheduling, and operational execution of KR Wolfe’s Elite Field Force within one defined region. This role is fully accountable for building, leading, and optimizing a high-performance regional team that delivers “Talent that Works for You” with maximum 10-hour drive radius, superior utilization, reduced travel, and consistent quality/safety.
Reporting directly to a Field Director, the Regional Manager serves as the primary people manager for all Field Supervisors, Leads, and Technicians assigned to their region (West, North East, South East, South Central, or North Central). While Project Managers own project scope, estimates, and client delivery, the Regional Manager owns the “Sudoku puzzle” of field staffing—assigning the right talent (skill level, certification, availability, and cost) to every job within the region.
The role is 50% job-costed, meaning the Regional Manager remains hands-on in the field while leading the team; this position is not expected to require overtime. Regional Managers will also absorb Stryker in-house account workload and join weekly Stryker calls.
This role is the cornerstone of the Elite Field Force vision: regional ownership, peer accountability, rapid skill progression, and local talent that dominates each market while maintaining low to no impact on technicians and clients.
_________________________________________________________________________ What You’ll Do Workforce Planning, Deployment & Utilization
- Own the daily scheduling puzzle and make all “Fully Scheduled” assignments for the region using skill levels, certifications, availability, and budget constraints.
- Deploy Field Supervisors, Leads, and Technicians across all divisions while balancing competing project demands and cross-division flexibility.
- Drive utilization targets by level and contribute data to the company-wide utilization dashboard.
- Manage regional demand forecasting, skill-gap analysis, and territory balancing.
- Own all tools, equipment, fleet, inventory, and storage within the region; capture excess material at job close-out and repurpose for cost savings.
- Execute the Stryker workload for in-house accounts.
- Directly manage, coach, and develop all Field Supervisors, Leads, and Technicians in the region.
- Hold the entire regional team strictly accountable for performance against the six core team KPIs:
- Daily reporting (Notes & Pictures)
- Training completion
- Timecards (accurate/daily)
- Expenses (accurate/daily)
- Safety (zero issues)
- Quality: No return trips or negative report cards from clients regarding quality
- Conduct 30/60/90 evaluations, mutual Friday feedback (Huddle calls), project report cards, and performance reviews.
- Champion skillset leveling (across core categories: Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Low Voltage/AV, Patch/Paint/Drywall/Maintenance, Carpentry, IT, Stryker-specific, ICRA, Structural) through self-assessments, technical validation, and progression planning.
- Lead in-person onboarding, offboarding, and regional training; foster peer accountability, regional competitions, and team incentives.
- Identify and develop high-potential talent for future Field Supervisor and Regional Manager roles.
- Ensure every deployment meets KR Wolfe client requirements, safety standards, and qualification thresholds.
- Monitor and improve regional performance metrics (quality, safety, customer satisfaction, daily reporting, timecards, expenses).
- Drive standardization of best practices, 30/60/90 evaluations, mutual Friday feedback, and project report cards within the region.
- Enforce low/no-impact transition principles for technicians and clients.
- Manage regional labor allocation within project budget constraints; aggressively reducing travel, overtime, and unnecessary costs.
- Support quarterly true-ups for Field Supervisors (2080-hour guarantee) and regional pay analysis.
- Partner with OPS on equipment/tools/fleet assignments and with IT/QuickBase on scheduling and utilization tools.
- Work 50% job-costed on client projects to maintain hands-on expertise and support the team.
- Act as the primary liaison between the regional field team, Project Management, Sales, and Field Directors.
- Provide proactive visibility on regional workforce status, risks, utilization trends, and opportunities.
- Partner with HR on regional hiring, compensation, onboarding/offboarding, and compliance.
- Lead weekly regional team communications and contribute to company-wide Elite Field Force change management.
- Ensure all regional decisions align with the Field Division Strategy Reference Document.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in field operations, workforce management, or project-based environments.
- Proven success leading and developing field teams (technicians and supervisors) in geographically dispersed settings.
- Strong experience in scheduling, resource allocation, and utilization management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to travel within the assigned region and job-site presence as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to manage through change while maintaining low/no impact on frontline teams and clients.
- Must be within commuting distance of the location listed.
- Direct knowledge of KR Wolfe operations, client requirements (especially Stryker, HCR, and healthcare renovation), and the current field team.
- Experience in construction, engineering services, telecom, IT services, or similar field-based industries.
- Prior success managing supervisors or high-performing technical teams.
- Familiarity with workforce management or scheduling systems (QuickBase and Salesforce experience strongly preferred).
- Strong analytical skills and comfort using data, dashboards, and regional metrics to drive decisions.
The Regional Manager must live the guiding principles: Think nationally, act regionally. Set people up for success. Peer accountability > top-down. Data-driven decisions. Client-first quality with operational efficiency.
