Receiving Technician / Customer Service Representative

Location: Atlanta, GA
Starting Pay: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Job Summary

The Receiving Technician / Customer Service Representative supports daily receiving and shipping operations by processing inbound receipts, preparing outbound shipments, maintaining accurate documentation, and resolving customer service issues such as missing packages, short shipments, and misdirected deliveries. This role requires strong attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while providing timely, professional service.

Responsibilities

• Create and process shipping labels to support outbound shipping needs
• Prepare, pack, and ship outgoing packages in accordance with site procedures and carrier requirements
• File, organize, and maintain packing slips and shipping/receiving documentation for audit readiness
• Investigate customer service issues including missing packages, short shipments, and misdirected deliveries; validate details and coordinate resolution
• Process receipts within the system accurately and in a timely manner
• Resolve and clear receipt exceptions by researching discrepancies and updating documentation and system records
• Create and maintain shipment reports, including logging shipment activity and exceptions
• Communicate with internal departments, couriers, and team members to ensure accurate delivery status and service recovery when needed
• Follow safety procedures and standard work practices for dock operations and material handling

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 6 months or more experience in receiving, shipping, warehouse operations, mailroom, or customer service preferred
• Experience with inventory, receiving, or shipping systems (materials management, WMS, or similar) preferred
• Strong computer skills and comfort working in multiple systems for receipts, labels, and reporting
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to reconcile paperwork to system transactions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach
• Ability to work reliably on a set weekday schedule with limited weekends and holidays as needed

Essential Functions (ADA-Compliant)

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position and move or traverse throughout the receiving dock and facility as needed
• Must be able to operate office and shipping/receiving equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, label printers, and copiers
• Must be able to frequently move, transport, and position packages and materials; may lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
• Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information verbally and in writing with customers, couriers, and internal teams
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities throughout the shift

Work Environment

• Work is primarily indoors on a receiving dock and in adjacent office or staging areas; may occasionally travel within the facility to deliver or retrieve items
• Regular exposure to warehouse/dock equipment such as carts, pallet jacks, and delivery vehicles in the area
• Occasionally exposed to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable
• May work near others and share common workspaces
• May need to bend, reach, or work in awkward positions to access packages, shelves, or staging areas
• Temperature may vary near dock doors and staging areas and may not always be temperature controlled
