Systems Administrator
The Senior Systems Administrator – Messaging is responsible for the administration, maintenance, optimization, and evolution of the organization’s email and messaging platforms. This role supports critical messaging infrastructure including Microsoft Exchange Server, Exchange Online (Microsoft 365), and Proofpoint. This position balances operational support with a strong emphasis on strategic initiatives, including messaging platform modernization, automation, and continuous improvement. Operating under general direction, the role serves as a subject matter expert, partnering effectively with stakeholders across the organization.
Description
Background in email; some functional experience, but stronger on the development side
Has one developer on the team and needs a backup for that developer
Experience with Power Automate, Power BI, and PowerShell (beyond just Exchange modules), including REST APIs via Microsoft Graph
Automates against M365 Exchange environments
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
PowerShell and automation/coding (Experience with Graph API in PowerShell
Messaging knowledge (Exchange or Proofpoint) with the ability to code against these systems
Some experience with Power Automate preferred

Messaging Platform Administration & Support • Administer, maintain, and support Microsoft Exchange Server (on-premises and hybrid) and Exchange Online environments.
• Ensure the availability, performance, reliability, and security of enterprise messaging systems.
• Troubleshoot complex messaging issues, performing root cause analysis and driving incidents through resolution.
• Support and contribute to strategic initiatives in the messaging space, including system improvements, upgrades, and platform enhancements. Proofpoint Administration
• Administer and support Proofpoint email security solutions, including: o TRAP (Threat Response Auto Pull) o TAP (Targeted Attack Protection) o EFD (Email Fraud Defense) o SER (Security Education / Awareness) o POD (Proofpoint On Demand)
• Configure, tune, and maintain policies to improve threat detection, reduce false positives, and strengthen the organization’s email security posture.
• Investigate and respond to email-based security incidents in coordination with security and incident response teams. Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement
• Participate in and contribute to messaging-related projects and strategic initiatives, including cloud, hybrid, and security improvements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and automation within messaging operations.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
• Act as a subject matter expert for messaging-related initiatives and consultations across IT. Automation & Engineering
• Develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions to improve operational efficiency and system reliability.
• Utilize PowerShell and other scripting or coding technologies to automate administrative tasks, reporting, and remediation.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
