Job Summary
W e are seeking a hands-on and reliable Greenhouse Technician to join our team on a 1-year contract. In this role, you will perform essential maintenance, repairs, and operational tasks to support healthy crop production and the development of new plant varieties in our greenhouse facilities. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, experience in greenhouse or agricultural environments, and is comfortable with hands-on work involving climate control systems, irrigation, and pest management. You must also be willing to work flexible hours when necessary, including weekends or after-hours shifts.
Job Description
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair work on greenhouse structures, equipment, and climate control systems.
- Identify and implement technical solutions and process improvements to enhance daily greenhouse operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to execute tasks that support the development of new crop varieties.
- Safely operate pickup trucks, cars, forklifts, power tools, and agricultural field equipment.
- Support crop growth by assisting in the monitoring of environmental conditions including fertigation, lighting, pests, and general plant health.
- Maintain and troubleshoot irrigation systems, including repairing PVC and metal pipes and fixing solenoids.
- Use modern computer systems for irrigation and climate control, and complete operational documentation.
- Apply pesticides safely (must be able to obtain a private applicator license and use a respirator).
- Independently perform routine greenhouse tasks following standard operating procedures.
- Occasionally respond to after-hours or weekend needs, such as pest control, irrigation, or security checks (compensated separately).
- Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM M-F
Skills Required
- Minimum 1 year of experience maintaining greenhouses or working in agriculture maintenance/construction.
- Experience with greenhouse systems and basic agricultural equipment preferred.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn greenhouse management systems and climate/irrigation software.
- Pesticide application experience is preferred (must be able to obtain a pesticide applicator license).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and after-hours shifts.
- Ability to work according to QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.
Education
- High School diploma required;
Pay Rate
- $18 per hour and higher depending on experience
